■ 業績・研究歴
日本側コーディネーターである澤芳樹は、これまでに心臓外科領域における心筋保護、心筋虚血耐性に関して世界的な研究業績を挙げており、今回の申請テーマである心筋細胞移植・遺伝子治療の分野に関しても早くから基礎研究に着手し、各種実験動物を用いた心不全モデルにおけるHGF遺伝子導入、自己骨髄細胞・自己筋芽細胞移植の心不全治療効果を報告し、末期重症心不全患者に対する自己骨髄細胞と自己筋芽細胞移植の臨床試験を行った。
更に世界に先駆けて温度応答性培養皿を用いた筋芽細胞シートの作成に成功し、これを用いた自己筋芽細胞シート移植治療の臨床応用を行い、本邦第一例は重症心不全状態から左室補助人工心臓から離脱して無事退院するまで回復した。
大阪大学においては心臓血管外科教授として心筋再生治療の研究・臨床を指導するのみならず、医学部付属病院未来医療センター長として臨床医学の各分野での組織再生医療のトランスレーショナルリサーチを統括指導している。
更に未来医療開発専攻の中心メンバーとして21世紀COEプログラム「細胞・組織の統合制御にむけた総合拠点形成」を獲得し、再生医療分野における拠点形成に尽力している。
学外においても先端医療振興財団細胞組織工学医療支援システム研究部客員研究部長を兼任、厚生省NEDOプロジェクトのリーダーを務めるなど、再生医療分野における研究実績は多岐にわたっている。
